I don’t know about you, but I am sick of winter.
OK, that’s putting it mildly.  I am ready for winter to pack up its’ snow and go away.  I am ready for daffodils to shoot their stems through the ground, unfurl their leaves and open their sunny yellow faces to the shining sun.  I am [...]

If you’re searching for something fun to do in central Iowa I have 3 ideas:
If you’re lucky enough to be kid-free on New Year’s Eve and like great food and swingin’ tunes check out the Hotel Pattee.  An evening including dinner buffet, dancing and champagne is $80 per couple.  Add a room or a suite [...]

We spent all day Sunday in the Amana Colonies enjoying Prelude to Christmas.  You can see more at Have Kid Will Travel but I wanted to share the girls pictures with Santa here.

Of course Caelan was more focused on her candy cane than on telling Santa what she wanted for Christmas.  Brenna really didn’t know [...]

Last Monday we loaded the family, invited cousins, aunts and uncles and grandparents and went to Incredible Pizza for an evening of food and fun.
The first thing you notice when you walk into Incredible Pizza is how huge it is.  It sits on the corner of 86th and Douglas where Albertson’s grocery store once was.  [...]

So, all of you “interested parties” will want to check [...]

We spent Sunday at the Iowa State Fair courtesy of Got Milk?and the Milk Mustache Mobile Tour.  We even had our own milk mustache photos taken.
Lovely, aren’t we?  They had a nice set up with free chair massages, ice cream shakes and a dietitian.
You may remember that I had three “Got Milk” goodie bags [...]

The Iowa State Fair is known for lots of things: food on a stick, all kinds of farm animals, foods not on a stick and lots of free fun.  For the $10 admission you can do a lot without spending another dime (food not included).
New to the free-fun line up this year is the Milk [...]

Last week we loaded up the girls, some food, grilling essentials and sunscreen and headed out to our town’s newest park.  There’s a reason we’ve been named a Playful City 3 years in a row.
The park is in our newest development (Prairie Trail) so there is lots of building going on and very few people [...]

This past weekend was my town’s annual community celebration.  And I took, literally, hundreds of photos.  And I have about 50 I would like to share. However I don’t have the time to edit and tag all of them before I add them here.  But I do have a couple that I must share.
First, this [...]

Mine is. And we have a sign to prove it. As you enter my town (listed first on the 2008 Playful Cities page- it helps to begin with the letter “A”) you are greeted by it.  And I’ve noticed it often.  In fact my cousin commented on it a week ago, “The sign [...]
