Last Grill of the Season

1

We fired up the grill last weekend for the last time this year to try a new product: Flamedisk, an ethanol (that’d be corn) grilling fuel.  Because Doug is a die-hard charcoal griller I thought it would be nice to try an alternative.

Web Images - Page 007As the name suggests Flamedisk is disk shaped.  We used it in our large grill and it worked well, though Doug thought 2 would be better due to the space.

We did find that it was difficult to get the fuel to light with the rather strong wind that was blowing but once it was lit it stayed that way.

We grilled two steaks and a chicken breast and all tasted like we had grilled over coals.  Cooking time was the same as over coals.

Web Images - Page 008I didn’t time the burn of the Flamedisk but I know it was still burning when our steaks were done.  Clean up was easy; either throw it away or recycle the aluminum (if allowed by your recycling company).

I think this product would be ideal for families who grill away from home at parks or in a small grill while tailgating.  There is no mess with Flamedisk and it’s easy to dispose of.  (No messy coal dust in the car!)

Flamedisk costs $3.99- $4.99 and can be purchased online and in a wide variety of retailers like Ace Hardware,Home Depot, Hy Vee and sporting goods stores.

Disclosure: I received this product to review.
