A New Way to Feed My Scrapping Addiction (Like I Need It!)

34

One of my favorite hobbies is scrapbooking.  I have, no joke, thousands of items: paper, ribbons, stickers, brads, paints, stamps, rub-ons…  Really the list can go on and on and on…  If you’ve been hanging around here long enough you remember when I purchased the “trash can” to hold it all (which it doesn’t- I have a problem, people).

When I saw that Creative Memories was a Type A Mom Conference sponsor I was clutching my wallet for dear life very excited because, well, I have an addiction.  It’s almost like bringing me Godiva- I can’t resist!

Thankfully, for my wallet, Creative Memories wasn’t selling anything but they were showing off some of their new items: a 12×18 calendar, soft cover memory books (printed in house) and their new Storybook Creator plus digital scrapbooking software.  After talking with the Creative Memories team- and missing half of a session- I was understandably excited when they gave me a copy of the new digital software to try (no, I’m not special- they gave it to all the attendees).

Here’s my creation:

Creative Memories Digital Scrapbooking Software

Creative Memories Digital Scrapbooking Software

I used one of the included page backgrounds on a basic white page.  Then I searched through their digital freebies online.  From there I easily downloaded the film strip, the girlfriends tag and the white flower with the purple at the left of the photo.  Using the very easy “drag and drop” method I added the photos, resized them, grouped some, and moved them to the correct placement.  The flower was a bit bold so I utilized the soften edges filter to make it match the page.  Text was easy to add and color matching was a breeze.

I can’t wait to play more with this software- I’m already deciding what will be scrapped traditionally and what will be done digitally.  First up for digital: our 3 months in Boston.  While I don’t see myself giving up the hands-on scrapping I do see myself incorporating digital into my crafting.

A HUGE thanks to Creative Memories for letting me bring home an additional pack of software- nicely packed in this cushy computer case- to give to one of my readers!

I love that we’ll be able to organize our digital content now, to more easily keep track of it. (Yes, that means I have too much digital content, ah, the perils of digital scrapping.)

  5. OH EM GEE! I have been wanting this (coveting it) BAD! I alrady subscribe to you through Google Reader, does that count?

I tweeted (twittered? Twitted?) the giveaway also, although I don’t think I have any followers to speak of!

I gave you a ‘thumbs up’ on StumbleUpon, officially my first visit to that site!

And I’ve Facebooked it as well.

Oh yeah, and I added the button to my site.

    Whew! I’m pooped.

  6. Oh yeah, and I was supposed to tell you what I liked best about the software! oops! My favorite feature is the ability to change the size of your layout without redoing the whole thing. I use a few different sizes of scrapbook pages, and would love to have the ability to make changes without a lot of hassle!

THAT IS SO CUTE!!! I’m going to have to print out YOUR page to put in my scrapbook! (Really, I need a copy of that photo at least. ;) I haven’t tried mine out yet because I can’t use it on my Mac *sigh* and need to put it on Brian’s computer. But you’ve totally inspired me to do it! Oh, and this isn’t an entry since I got it free at the conference too. (That wouldn’t be nice, now would it?)

OH MY WORD!!! I have been coveting this for ages!! I made an album with their free software and I love it, but I would love to have more freedom with the design of the pages and moving the pictures and accents around the pages!! so I would say the ENDLESS options is my favorite feature!! :)

  11. Looks like great software! I like that you can “Wrap your text around images and objects, fill any shape with text, draw a line – straight or curvy – and text will follow it”. Easy Peasy!

  12. button on right sidebar at http://www.thebabblingbrooks.typepad.com AND http://www.someluckydog.blogspot.com (I’ll be moving all the contest stuff over there!)

  13. faved you on technorati (thebabblingbrooks)

Let me say right off, that I’m a CM Consultant who loves our software-I’m impressed with the way you jumped right in and took advantage of the content that came with your software as well as found the freebies! I love the food pictures – I always take pictures of my food, my hubby just rolls his eyes.
