Family Vacation

1

My brother mentioned the other day that the family should take a vacation together. As in all of the family. Which includes my siblings and their families (14 people), my sister-in-law’s sister and her kids (4 people), and my parents (2 more). So… 20 people.

That’s 20 people with very different ideas of fun. We want someplace that isn’t terribly far away but has a lot to offer. My suggestion: Branson, Missouri. (And, if we worked it right Doug’s family could meet us there. Adding another 5-9 people.)

The reason for my suggestion? Branson has everything.

  • Amusement park? Check- Silver Dollar City.
  • Water park? Check- White Water.
  • Golf? Check- the new Payne Stewart course just opened.
  • Shopping? Check- lots and lots.
  • Theater? Check- everything from how-downs to Broadway shows.
  • Food? Check- down-home cookin’ to fine cuisine.
  • Recreation? Check- boating, hiking, camping.
  • Pampering? Check- spas and resorts.

As for where to stay… I’m leaning toward the Hilton Promenade at Branson Landing or the Hilton Branson Convention Center Hotel. They are gorgeous and right in the middle of everything. Not only that but they have great summer specials that include tickets to Silver Dollar City and White Water, golf or tickets to a show. Not to mention group rates.

I think it’s the perfect spot for an extended family to get away. Of course my family rarely agrees with my ideas… Must be why we don’t vacation as a group…
